CMC Program Information

General Information

Equipment

Click here for your Equipment List. Please be sure that you follow the list closely and don’t hesitate to contact us if you need more information. It is absolutely essential to bring all the required equipment and please be sure to pack light. All personal equipment will be flown into the lodge by helicopter, but you need to be able to carry it out. So think simplistic! The allowable weight for your gear is 30 lbs.

Weather

From July until September, the weather is generally warm and the temperature can rise up to +30° C or 85° F. Nevertheless, it is essential to be prepared for cold weather and sudden storms where temperatures can sink to -5° C or 28° F , so please pay close attention to the equipment list.

Food

All meals are included in the program fee. We believe in a well-balanced diet, which is an essential part of learning. Should you have special dietary needs, please specify in the application form.

Pre-Tour Accommodation in Kaslo

Before flying to the Mount Carlyle Lodge, there will be a pre-trip orientation and overnight at the Kaslo Bay Resort. This newly built waterfront resort offers state of the art views and comfort for Corporate Mountain Culture.

Accommodation Information

Many corporate teams struggle because of a lack of cohesiveness among its members. The Corporate Mountain Culture lifestyle involves living and working together in close quarters under mountain conditions, 24 hours a day. Good interpersonal skills and appropriate communication is required to be a successful team member under such conditions.

The Mount Carlyle Lodge is a comfortable high alpine mountain lodge, which offers three separate bedrooms, an indoor bathroom, a relaxation room, a dining room, a kitchen and a sauna. The bedrooms are comprised of two rooms for four people and one room for two people. Participants share rooms with others of the same gender.

Level of Difficulty/Technicality

The Corporate Mountain Culture Program is designed for the physically fit and cardio-vascularly strong mountain enthusiast. The activities during the program involve hiking and scrambling through rocky terrain without any trails. We refrain from any vertical/technical rock climbing or glacier traveling. The program is geared for the advanced hiker, who has excellent balance and no significant fear of heights.

Health & Fitness

Your health and fitness is a very important part of participating in the Corporate Mountain Culture Program. It is crucial to be healthy and fit. We will be averaging 4 - 8 km per day with a day pack. The elevation gain per day varies from 1000 ft. to 2500 ft. A 2500 feet elevation gain is equal to climbing a 20-story building 10 times. To prepare you for this program, we suggest a fitness training program prior to the trip. Walking or jogging daily 5 - 8 km and visiting a fitness gym 2 - 3 times per week is sufficient for this program. You don't have to be Arnold Schwarzenegger, but you will get the most out of the Corporate Mountain Culture training if you have adequately prepared for the physical challenge.

Participants

In order to offer the best possible care to our guests, we believe in keeping the group size exclusive and we can only accommodate between 8 – 10 participants per trip. We recommend that you book early to ensure a reservation. The minimum number of participants for this program is 5.

Insurance

Because of unforeseeable circumstances, we strongly recommend that participants have travel insurance, which covers medical bills, evacuation costs and trip cancellation costs. Also, be sure that your personal belongings are insured for damage, loss and theft. If you require insurance, please contact us.

Newman & Grigg Psychological and Consulting Services and Kootenay Mountain Holidays Inc. assumes no liability whatsoever for your personal safety or for damage to or loss of your equipment on any of our trips. Booking Policy/ Cancellation
